about

The Sinking West EP is the first release by St. Catharines/Toronto based Barbarosa. The album is the culmination of two years of writing by frontman/songwriter Patrick Beedling. With dark acoustic textures underpinned by a pop sensibility, the songs call forth images of frontier lifestyles, modern progress and romance.

Track Name: Sinking West
Prelude: Floating, on a Tuesday morning
You're here as you always have been
A magnet on a fridge
Is this the way to live?

Your world, nothing undiscovered
Behold, Atlantis like a suburb
By now you thought you'd know, exactly where to go
By now you thought you'd see...

In the mountains there were men
Who would forsake their only friends
When your wheel begins to bend
In the mountains there were men,
In the mountains there were men

In the middle of the town,
Buildings falling to the ground
Toppled towers of the banks
People stop and pay their thanks,
In the middle of the town

Hang your wallet on the cross
What was won and what was lost?
Spit your days out like exhaust
You will measure what was lost
You will measure what was lost

Who are the ones you love?
Track Name: All Your Maybes
Tell her how it is don't spare your blows this time
This shit has gone on way too long
And you're the one to blame

Tell her that you're noble, that you search for truth
You're Clark Kent waiting for his booth
She's no Lois Lane

She's had it with your sonnets and your roving eye,
Your peddler's charm your cheap disguise
Happy Halloween

All your maybes got her thinkin' she's not gonna stay
Don't you even say "Oh baby, please be patient"
You're not gonna change

You promised her your heart but it's no valentine
You've built your castle in the sky,
and it's a lonely home

You're pleading from the rubble and it's awfully sad
But your last stand ain't Stalingrad
It's gone on too long

All your maybes got her thinkin' she's not gonna stay
Don't you even say "Oh baby, please be patient"
You're not gonna change

Do want to know the worst of it, my friend, my boy?
You'd promised less, delivered more
She'd love you anyway
